Below is the itinerary for the Weekend in the Alps "La Madeleine" Package:
Thursday: Arrival day.
We will be collecting guests from Geneva Airport (GVA) at 1400pm and transferring to our hotel in Brides les Bains for 3 days of great cycling. As well as supported and guided riding, you will be well looked after, with breakfast, lunch and dinner every day.
Meet the team at the chalet, get the bikes set up, have a spin and chill before the first days riding!
Friday: After breakfast we start with something memorable and head down the valley to climb the Cormet de Roseland from the Beaufort side, leaving from Brides les Bains and looping right back round. This is a big 120km day and will end with riding back up to the chalet on the Courchevel climb, if everyone is feeling good. Minibus to the rescue if needed!
Gradients: Cormet de Roseland; 4% to 8%
Saturday: This morning will see us making our mark on the Col de la Madeleine, regularly climbed by the Tour de France as it is such a challenge with gradients: 5.5% to 9.5%.
Named the “Serpentine of the Alps” this 26km climb is a real challenge and on a clear day the views across to Mont Blanc are well worth the climb. A great second days riding…..ending with a ride back to the hotel.
Sunday: A great way to finish the weekend with the Col de Petit St Bernard peaking on the Italian border. With gradients averaging 4% - 5.5% it cruises up nicely and everyone loves it. Pop over the border and grab an Italian coffee….get some pics of the amazing view and then enjoy what all our guests have said is “the best, most fun descent” they have done…..a lovely flowing, cruising road back down to Bourg St Maurice.
Farewell dinner this evening and maybe some plans for next year to be had!
Monday: Departure Day
After breakfast the transfer will drop you back to Geneva Airport at 1000am (leaving the hotel at 0800am). Please be sure that all flights are scheduled to depart no earlier than 1200noon.
Below is the itinerary for the "Weekend in the Alps Alpe d'Huez" Package*:
*This is available exclusively as a bespoke package for 2019, please enquire.
Thursday: Arrival Day
Guests will be met at Lyon International Airport and transferred directly to Alpe d’Huez to your hotel and base for the weekend. Meet the guiding team, set up bikes and have a chance to test out your legs.
Please note: We collect from LYS at 1pm, so flights need to be scheduled to land by 1215pm on arrival day.
Friday: Col d'Ornon – Alpe d’Huez
After breakfast we will head down into the valley and over to the Col d'Ornon, a great local climb. You can take a moment to enjoy the view across to the well-known 21 hairpin bends of Alpe d’Huez which will be your finish climb today. A great first day to kick off in the mountains and set you up for the 2 big ride days to come.
Breakfast, lunch on the support van, dinner at the hotel
Saturday: Glandon – Villard du Reculas
A big solid day of riding today with the Col de Glandon on the menu. With some stunning sections, including riding over the spectacular dam and winding your way to the summit this will be a great day for our riders. The return route will take a left at the dam and follow the old road of Villard du Reculas, joining the Alpe d’Huez climb to finish.
Breakfast, lunch on the support van, dinner at the hotel
Sunday: Col de Lauteret – Col du Galibier
The last ride day….and sure to be an epic with the mighty Col du Galbier on the menu! With a road now open allowing access to the Col de Lauteret and onwards to the mythical Col du Galibier, which at 2675m and just under 40km is a real challenge and the views of the surrounding Alps will be stunning.
There will be minibus lifts up from Bourg d’Oisans if required.
Monday: Departure Day:
After breakfast guests will be transferred back to Lyon International Airport this morning, with tired legs and some great memories we are sure. We drop off at 1100am so flights need to be scheduled to depart no earlier than 1pm on the departure day.
Your home for the weekend is one of our favourite hotels: Hotel Restaurant Les Chalets situated in the relaxed spa resort of Brides les Bains. Every summer Aude and her team have provided the best customer service for our guests, from airy, comfortable rooms to great cusine (the savoyard night is a real feast of local dishes). The local area has cafes, shops and bars and provides a great setting for you to chill when off the bike.
The hotel offers perfect facilities for our riders:
